Kitties have four genes for each cattribute. There is one dominant gene (which is expressed) and three recessive genes. When two cats breed, they each pass forward a gene to compete for their offspring’s dominant gene. If those genes are neighboring genes, there is a chance they will mutate and the kitten will get an entirely different gene.

Unlike traditional genetics, where dominant and recessive genes have to do with the traits themselves (e.g. blond hair is recessive to black hair), kitty genes are dominant and recessive based on where they are located in the kitty's genome, and it affects what gets passed to offspring.

Okay, guys, I made a spreadsheet to read your kitty's genome for you. 1. Copy your kitty's BINARY genome from https://cryptokittydex.com/kitties/[KITTY#HERE]. 2. Go to this spreadsheet and paste the genome into cell F1. 3. Now you can see all your kitty's recessive genes! Enjoy. Each kitty has a unique genetic code. Here's how to read your kitty's genes!
(Or make this spreadsheet do it for you.) 1. Get your kitty’s genome from cryptokittydex.com/kitties/[KITTY#HERE]. 2. Get the kai genome. 3. Divide it into 4-digit chunks, starting from the right side. 4. Each chunk of 4 genes describes a cattribute category. Your kitty has 1 dominant trait and 3 recessive traits in each group. The dominant trait is your kitty's visible cattribute (e.g. sphynx). The recessive traits are non-visible, but may be passed on to children. We've moved to cryptokitties411.com. Visit us there for the recipe for Stitches, the zombie fancy. Some kitties are classified as Fancy cats. Their artwork differs from the standard set of cattributes. Here are the ones that have been discovered so far: DuCat, ShipCat, Dracula, Mistletoe, SantaClaws, and PhuZiqaat. After a fancy cat is unlocked/discovered, you can breed your own using the recipes below. (Exclusive cats like Genesis cannot be reproduced through breeding.)
WE'VE MOVED! Please visit us at cryptokitties411.com for the new Mutation Match-Up Tool.
When you combine certain traits through breeding, it can result in a genetic mutation. Here are trait combinations that will result in mutation 14%-25% of the time. |
