I asked experienced players what they wish they would've known at the start. Here is their advice. DON'T OVERSPEND ON GAS!! Metamask automatically sets Gas Limit and Gas Price for you, but if you learn to adjust it, you'll save a LOT in fees. Visit my post here to understand gas, or just do this: - Set gas limit to 250,000. - For gas price, visit ethgasstation.info and use the Gas Price Std amount. AVOID HIGH-GENERATION CATS In general, lower generations are better than higher ones. They retain their value better and produce kittens with faster cooldown speeds. (To understand cooldown speed, see my post here.) UNDERSTAND THE COSTS There is a breeding fee of 0.008 ETH. You pay it every time you breed. Every time you list a cat for sale (or take down a listing), you pay a transaction fee. Any action in this game costs a few cents or a few dollars. Make good choices. (For a full list of costs and fees, see my post here.) UNDERSTAND RARITY BEFORE INVESTING BIG IN A NEW TRAIT Some traits will start off rare but become common very quickly through breeding. Other traits will retain their rarity for longer. Make sure you understand a little bit about rarity before you spend a lot of ETH on new traits. See How to Choose a Rare and Valuable Kitty. HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS First and foremost, this is a game, not an investment or a get-rich-quick opportunity. If you're getting CryptoKitties for an easy return, you're going to miss all the magic and fun (and probably the return). This is primarily a collectors' game. You might be able to make some money, but don't be overly annoyed if you don't. Love your cats. If you have any other suggestions to add, please put them in the comments! (Special thanks to u/artiscience, u/Guaranain, and u/airaani for these suggestions.)
